DSI-3292 contains the beginning and ending times of occurrences of weather and/or obstructions to vision that were recorded on the MF1-10B form used by the National Weather Service (NWS). Official surface weather observation standards can be found in the Federal Meteorological Handbook. This data set is most useful if coordinated with data for the same stations and dates in NCDC digital data set DSI-3280, US Global Surface Airways Hourly Observations. DSI-3292 includes data from 1984 to 1997. NCDC has data for 299 stations. Areal coverage includes the US, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Pacific Ocean nations of Palau, Marshall Islands and Micronesia, and other stations controlled by the National Weather Service. The digital file contains record type, station, identification, data source codes, data measurement and quality flags, beginning and ending times of occurrences, and element type.
