Description ----------- This ftp location is an official repository for the " 103-Year High-Resolution Climate Data Set for the Conterminous United States". This project was funded by the "NOAA Climate Change and Detection Program". Data Set Format --------------- The data sets are stored in ARC/INFO ASCII GRID format. The value -9999 represents missing data. Files are compressed with the GNU utility "gzip" (i.e. file name suffix ".gz"). Files ----- README This file you are reading now docs.zip Zip archive containing three documentation files: a) infill.pdf - pdf file documenting how missing station data were infilled b) final_report.wpd - final project report to NOAA c) 103yr.ppt - PowerPoint presentation on the 103-yr data set presented at the American Meteorological Society Applied Climate Conference in May 2002. ppt, tmin, tmax Directories that contain the gridded data for the period 1895-1997. 1890-1899, ..., 1990-1999 Directories of data representing decadal periods. This directory structure is found in ppt, tmin, and tmax. us__..gz Individual data files stored in each directory, GNU gzip format. _metadata.txt FGDC compliant metadata describing the precipitation and temperature data files. dem_metadata.txt FGDC compliant metadata describing the elevation data file. us_25m.dem.gz Digital elevation model (DEM) data.
