November 1999 Statewide Ranks

     Based upon preliminary data, November 1999 was the warmest such month since records
began in 1895.  Forty-six of the contiguous 48 states ranked within the warm-third portion of the
historical distribution including the warmest November on record for eight states.  These
included Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and
Wyoming.  Thirty-one other states had preliminary temperature rankings within their top-ten
warmest on record.
